Metallica played half their new album live and the new songs play great live, the crowd really got into the entire show. They threw in some awesome pyrotechnics and really cool coffins with mounted lights and some laser shows. All in all, the concert was great when Metallica was on the stage and the crowd responded in turn. Ok, so where was I in the mix? Try front row, less than a few feet away from the band… I never expected to be that close but wow, it was a great experience. Making eye contact with the band was something I would never have guessed I would be able to do and I did. The concert was easily the best I’ve ever been to.

Also, my nephew, deer hunting for the first time got a spike buck in less than an hour yesterday. Lucky and good! I’m not heading out this morning because I’m tired, but I may head out this afternoon and try my luck. I saw a 4 pointer in the road less than half a mile from my house on the way home last night though. I hope it’s not the only deer I see this season…

The video itself doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me in that it doesn’t really follow the lyrics or anything. I guess it made Metallica happy though…

I’m glad Metallica was able to reinvent themselves this far into the game… they formed in 1981. I’ll even be attending my 2nd Metallica concert in November. I’m excited to see them again. Last time, and the first time I saw them, was during the Summer Sanitarium tour in 2003. That was at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis along with other bands, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and a few other smaller bands. Their current concert tour is an Arena tour so we’ll be seeing them at the Scottrade Center (formerly Savvis Center). I’m not too excited about the introduction bands, Down and The Sword, but oh well, I’m sure the 2 hour Metallica portion will more than make up for that!
