NBC brought a new comedy sitcom to us this year called Kath & Kim. I thought the commercials leading into the premiere were funny so I gave it a chance. At first, I was iffy, I didn’t know if it was going to make it and bring me back for more. Well, after a few weeks of watching it grow, I can honestly say that the show entertains me.

It’s hilarious in parts because it is so blatantly stupid. What makes it even more funny is that I can honestly say that I know people who would act the way the actors do in this show. All in all, it’s a great new addition to Thursday night television for us and I’m glad I gave it a chance.

King Of The Hill – Cancelled

FINALLY! Fox has announced they have cancelled King of the Hill. The animated comedy is currently in its 13th season and scheduled to go off the air during the 2009-10 season due to already purchased episodes by Fox.

I’ll admit, I watched King of the Hill when it first started, it was one of the first primetime animated shows on television back then. It was fairly funny and Mike Judge was coming off his monster success of Beavis & Butthead on MTV. Well, animated shows lose their luster after a while because really, how far can they go? The Simpsons is another show that should be off the air and I cannot wait to read its cancellation news someday.

Chuck, Please Go Away

I’m a geek and according to the advertising executives, I should enjoy the NBC show on Monday night called Chuck. Well, I’ve watched a couple of episodes and let me tell you, I absolutely HATE and DESPISE this show. I don’t understand how it came back for a 2nd season let alone how it made it through the first year without getting cut.

Well, considering that the commercials show half naked women EVERY single time, I can see why “geeks” are being targeted. It’s sold as some sort of soft porn on network television in my opinion.

Good looking girls interacting with a nerdy single guy who loves electronics. Pure genious boys! I hope people see through the advertising facade and stop watching this horrendous show!

The Office

My current favorite television show (well, until Lost returns in early 2009) is “The Office.” Currently the comedy sitcom is just beginning their 5th season.

I’ll admit, I didn’t jump onto the Office bandwagon until somewhere in season 3. I thought it was just another British ripoff show that wouldn’t last. Little did I know what I was missing. Yes, I jumped on the bandwagon, but hey, at least I’m on it!

Every Thursday night here at the Dicus household is television night and The Office is a major part of that!

NBC Today Show Garbage

The NBC Today Show has been my morning news program for as long as I can remember. I have never watched another national program in the morning outside of ESPN’s Sportscenter. However, over the last year or so, the Today Show has deteriorated into nothing more than a self serving entertainment show.

Their focus upon advertising and self gratifying ego trips offers very little in the form of actual news at this point. I still watch it because it is entertaining, but it’s garbage television.

Please, bring back some true journalistic reporting to morning television!
