Phelps, The Ultimate Olympic Athlete

He won 8 gold medals in one Olympics and now has 14 gold medals total. He has 16 total medals.

Phelps has the most gold medals in history, he is 3 medals away from having the most total medals, and he’s still only 23 years old. His sport is dominated by young swimmers, but if anyone can compete at a later age, he could be the one. At this rate, he will shatter all medal records and there will be absolutely no question about his greatness as an Olympic athlete.

His performances during this summer’s Olympics made for spine tingling drama. Let’s hope we see him again in 4 years returning to the stage of his dominance!

Mizzou RAH!

Well, Mizzou lost 2 games in a row and that killed the National Championship hopes, but they have a few games left in the season to redeem themselves and win the Big 12 North and reach the Big 12 title game. Win that and they will have a BCS Bowl bid.

I would say that’s a highly successful year! Even if Mizzou cannot win the Big 12 Championship, they have still made great strides in returning Mizzou football back into the national spotlight.

As we saw versus Colorado, when the team has their heads on straight, they are one of the most exciting offensive teams in college football.

Philadelphia Phillies – World Champions

Who would have thought that the Phillies would be Major League Baseball’s Champion this year? Sure, they had a decent team, but they had serious holes in their lineup and pitching staff. Well, they overcame their deficiencies and won it all. I’m glad the National League took the Pennant!

I’ll place money that they won’t repeat and I may even place a bet that the Tampa Bay Rays won’t even make the playoffs next year…

NBA Season Has Started

The NBA season has started. There are quite a few big stories this year. Seeing if the Boston Celtics can repeat is probably the biggest. Other major stories include the many impact rookies entering the league, the debut of Greg Oden (last year’s number 1 pick sidelined by injury the entire year last year), and how lineup changes alter several team’s chances for a championship.

I’m not much of an NBA fan, but I do like watching the playoffs.
