burning_moneyThe Super Bowl came and went with the Arizona Cardinals putting up a fight, but coming up short.  In an exciting finish, the Cardinals simply could not close out the Steelers and their unbelievable luck.  I’m still not sure that the right foot touched the ground on that last touchdown…  All I have to say is that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the winners, but not necessarily the best team.  A gift touchdown before the half basically provided the winning margin.  It all works out in the end, but that’s the way some games go.  It would have been nice if Kurt Warner could have retired on a Super Bowl win and then ridden off into the sunset.

As for burning money, the commercials this year generated $200+ million.  All I can say about them is that they were the worst collection of Super Bowl ads I have ever seen.  If they would have donated that money to the homeless/starving Americans, it would have been better spent a 200 million times over.

I’m sad because of the result of the game.  Watching the NFL Defensive Player of the Year punching, yes punching, a Cardinals player on the ground and then forcefully slamming him to the ground afterwards was an act of cowardice and extreme unsportsmanlike conduct.  A team and a player with that sort of attitude does not deserve to be a world champion.  I lost all respect for the Steelers tonight even though they were one of my boyhood favorite teams.  Jerks.  I will forever root against them from this moment on.
